Practical information
Appointments
Appointment orders go through the switchboard at Álfheimar 74 in Reykjavík in (+354) 515 1600. The switchboard is open between 9:00 and 5.00 pm Icelandic time (4-6 hours after US hours and 1-3 hours before European hours).
Preparation
The first step is always to make an appointment, either in person if possible or via telephone to see what the patient wants. The doctor the gives practical advise on preparation before surgery, regarding food and drink, smoking and medicine but it comes without saying that each and every patient needs to be prepared in a different way. The rule applies that before anaesthesia the patient needs to fasten completely from midnight before the surgery. If the patient has a cold, flue or infection of some kind he or she needs to consult with the doctor. Arrange for someone to pick you up at the medical institution and to assist you for at least one to two days after the surgery. Top of page
